This full day excursion takes you to visit the widest and the most important Unesco archeological roman site of our days: the ancient ruins of the city of Pompeii and, takes you also up to the volcano Mount Vesuvius, one of the biggest active volcano in Europe dominating the entire Bay of Naples.
Pick up (approx. around 9:00 am) by minibus or minivan at your hotel in Sorrento city centre or at a nearest meeting point.
Departure for Pompeii archaeological excavations, where in 2 hours a local licensed tour guide will reveal you the secrets of this beautiful ancient Roman city destroyed by the eruption of the volcano in 79 B.C.
You will discover the beauties of the roman archaeological site walking through history: the Abundance Street, passing through Imperial Forums, Temples, Thermal Baths, Roman Villas, theatres…
After the 2 hours visit of the ruins, a break of about 1 hour will be arranged for lunch and rest in order to proceed to the volcano Mount Vesuvius - National Park, located at about 5 km distance from Pompeii archeological site.
Once you reach by minibus or minivan the Vesuvius parking area at about 1000 meters, you will than enjoy on foot a beautiful walk up of about 30 minutes hike to reach the crater area at 1300 meters altitude.
Once you arrive at the top of the crater an expert volcano alpine guide will illustrate the monitoring and the history of the Vesuvius and of its numerous and famous eruptions.
Transfer back in Sorrento around 5:30 pm.
